Osgood’s breakaway stop the turning point in Detroit win? Final Score: Red Wings 3, Penguins 1

3-1 was the final score of last night’s game. And not just any game. Unless you’ve been living with your head in the sand, you’d know that last night’s game was G1 in the Stanley Cup finals. Brad Stuart for Detroit opened up the scoring with 6:22 left in the 1st period, but Ruslan Fedetenko tied the game minutes later. It seemed to be a close game until Chris Osgood stopped superstar Evgeni Malkin on the breakaway. After that, Detroit was the better team. The other scorers were from Johan Franzen, who leads the team in points in the playoffs, and Justin Abdelkader, who scored his 1st ever playoff goal. The Penguins out-shot the Red Wings 32-30, but that just meant Chris Osgood was better than Marc-Andre Fleury, though the Fedetenko goal was embarrassing, as Ozzie’s glove was hovering over the puck to cover it and Fedetenko pick-pucketed him, then deked him, then shot it past him. Today’s game is also in Detroit. One of the main reasons that the Wings won was shutting down the Penguin superstars. They held Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby to only one point together, ,which was impressive as together this playoffs they average 3.16 a game. Also, Crosby’s name is in the top-10 best shooting percentages of the playoffs list. Feel free to follow hockeylad on twitter. His user name is hockeylad.
